How hard is the trek for people who are new to it?

The Annapurna Circuit and Ghorepani Poon Hill are both moderately difficult. The hike to Poon Hill is simple for beginners, but crossing the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) is hard and requires a lot of physical strength and getting used to the altitude. Which permits do I need for ACT 2026?

You need to obtain various permits for the Annapurna Circuit trek with Poon Hill, which include the following:

Can I skip the road sections of the circuit?

Of course. But still, you have to walk through some parts until Dhikur Pokhari. Thereafter, you will follow the upper route to Manang. While road construction has changed parts of the valley, our itinerary follows the NATT (Natural Annapurna Trekking Trails). These are well-marked alternative footpaths that keep you away from jeep traffic and deep within the authentic pine forests and medieval villages.

What is the best month to see the rhododendrons?

To see the hills painted in red, pink, and white, trek between late March and April. The rhododendron forests around Ghorepani and Tadapani are at their most beautiful right now. It looks magnificent against the snow-capped Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs.

Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1400m) and transfer to hotel.

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks, heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. He is holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. Therefore, you have to look for that person for your pickup from the airport.

Day 2, Drive to Jagat (1300m) via Besisahar. Stay at tea house.

We will begin our trips this morning after breakfast with a drive through the picturesque Nepalese countryside to Besisahar (850 m) by bus and drive to Jagat by Jeep. It is a small and beautiful place. You can enjoy the natural hot spring on the Marsyangdi riverbank.

Day 3, Trek to Dharapani (1,900m). Stay at tea house

After breakfast, we’ll take a one-and-a-half-hour rocky trail trek to Chamje hamlet, a small rural population surrounded by bamboo bushes with a primary school. The adventure continues with a suspension bridge across the Marshyangdi River just after leaving Chamje.

You will view a waterfall, rocky hills, trails, and a little teashop before entering the Manang district soon before Tal village. This is a lovely community on the riverbank with a stunning waterfall view. You’ll cross the river and continue trekking through the cliffs above the river to <strong>Dharapani village.

Day 4, Trek to Chame (2,710m). Stay at tea house

Bagarchhap is about an hour’s walk from Dharapani. This lovely village may see the first glimpse of Mt. Annapurna II. On this day, you will pass through a few steep forested landscapes and multiple landslides; nonetheless, keep your eyes out for some spectacular views of prominent Himalayan peaks.

On your way to Chame on this day, you’ll pass through some traditional Tibetan villages (2670 m). Chame is Manang’s district headquarters and one of the most picturesque Himalayan settlements, with near views of Mt. Lamjung and Annapurna II.

Day 5, Trek to Upper Pisang (3,300m). Stay at tea house.

Another beautiful stroll through a narrow, steep trail that follows the riverbank will lead you to the settlement of Bratang, where you can stop for tea. Thereafter, we followed the forested walk and rough trails for an hour before crossing the suspension bridge and arriving at Dhukur Pokhari for lunch.

This little village will see the first view of Pisang Mountain and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After lunch, we’ll walk for an hour to reach Upper Pisang

Day 6, Trek to Manang (3,540m), Stay at tea house.

Today, the Annapurna Range shields the drier upper route from the monsoon’s full force. For a portion of the year, the people of this region herd yaks and grow vegetables.

The trail continues from Mungji to adjacent Manang, passing through the scenic but largely hidden settlement of Braga (3475 m). We will visit an ancient and historical monastery at Braga. Thereafter, it’s about half an hour’s walk to reach Manang village.

Day 7, Acclimatization Day.

In Manang, we spent the day acclimating. We spent the entire day doing beautiful day hikes and marveling at the breathtaking vistas around the village; daytime is the optimum time to gain altitude.

The charming community of roughly 500 flat-roofed dwellings is nestled amid some outstanding landscapes—Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7555 m), and Gangapurna (7454 m) to the south; Tilicho (7132 m) and the Grand Barrier to the west; and Chulu West (6583 m) and Chulu East (6059 m) to the north. We return to our lodging and retire for the night at the end of the day.

Day 8, Trek to Chauri Ledar (4,200m). Stay at tea house.

After a magnificent exploration of Manang village this morning, we started for Yak Kharka, leaving the route to Tilicho Lake on the left corner and continuing a short hike up to Yak Kharka (4250 m), a little community nestled at the base of the mountain (4110 m). We’ll climb gradually towards a small hill, then turn right behind it to reach Yak Kharka/Ledar (4,200 m), where we’ll spend the night. Remind yourself that you can hike up to a small hill for a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.

Day 9, Trek to Thorong High Camp (4,920m), Stay at tea house.

Another short day with views from above takes you to Thorong Phedi’s pass for lunch. A small yet bustling community that caters to the requirements of hikers and climbers. It is located at the base of the Thorong-La, and the trails continue to ascend to the top of the Thorong-La. We trek for an hour after lunch to reach a Thorong high camp (4,925 m) for the night.

Day 10, Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorong la pass (5416m). Stay at tea house.

Early in the morning, we will start our hike to Thorong La Pass at 5,416 m. The hike from the high camp to Thorong La Pass takes about 3 hours. It is an adventurous day on your trek. We will slowly (Hillary Steeps) ascend our footsteps, with an incredible mountain view of the Annapurna Himalayan range. After 2.5 to 3 hours of walking, we will finally reach our final destination, the Thorong La Top. It is difficult walking at a high altitude, but you feel proud of yourself. To reach this high will be on your lifetime experience.

After the summit of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), we will trek down to Phedi through a steep and slippery way. Having launched here, continue walking to reach Muktinath.

Day 11, Drive to Tatopani (1200m) Stay at tea house

In the morning, visit Muktinath Temple (the holy place). Enjoy seeing the pilgrimage activities and breathtaking mountain views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. You can take a holy bath with 108 taps. Then go back to the hotel and have breakfast. Then we will drive to Tatopani (Hot Spring) via Jomsom.

Day 12, Trek to Ghorepani (2,860m), Stay at tea house.

Short, easy walk to Ghar Khola, then the trail leads us to Shikha village. We need to check our entry permit for the Annapurna Conservation Area. Have lunch here, then continue walking to Phalate, Chitre, and Ghorepani. It is a long ascent on this trek. Ghorepani is a very nice place to stay; you can enjoy the great Himalayan panorama, good accommodation, and delicious food here.

Day 13, Hike to Poonhill (3210m) and Trek to Tikhedhunga. Stay at guesthouse.

Early morning, hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m), enjoy a magic sunrise, and take in incredible mountain views of the Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Likewise, Nilgiri North and South, Tukuche Peak, and surrounding views

Then back to the hotel for breakfast.  After breakfast, our trek descends to <strong>Ulleri or Tikhedhunga. Stay at a guesthouse.

 

Day 14, Drive to Pokhara, Stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, we will be ready to drive to Pokhara through Birethanti and Nayapul. We are going to drive along the Pokhara Beni Highway from Nayapul. It will be a relaxing and scenic drive to Pokhara. You can enjoy seeing beautiful mountains, valleys, and Phewa Lake along the drive.

After lunch in Pokhara, you will have free time to explore this beautiful tourist city. There are many beautiful places to visit and enjoy in Pokhara.

Day 15, Drive to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Returning to Kathmandu entails a 7-hour trip through the Trisuli River and via numerous towns. You can spend your time relaxing or shopping for souvenirs to take home. In the evening, we will offer a goodbye dinner with cultural dance performances in a traditional restaurant to commemorate your incredible journey.

  • If you like to take a porter to carry your luggage during the trek, the porter costs $280 for 14 days. One porter for two trekkers. (One porter can carry 16 to 18 kilograms.)
  • Desserts: Sweet things like chocolate, cake, pie, pudding, etc.
  • Any other expenses that are not mentioned in the cost are included.

NOTE: You will be responsible for covering the costs of your accommodation, food, and other expenses in Kathmandu. If you return back early from the trek because of illness or any other issue.  The money you paid has already been spent on transportation, permits, guides’ salaries, hotels in Kathmandu, mountain lodging, food, etc. Therefore, in this case, it is not refundable.
