Rara Lake Circuit Trek

The Rara Lake Circuit Trek is one of the popular trekking destinations in western Nepal. It lies in a mid-western part of Nepal. At Mugu district, Karnali zone in Rara National Park area. Rara region is very rich in natural and cultural heritage.

Rara Lake is the main attraction of this trek and is the biggest lake in Nepal. It lies at an altitude of 3,065m. A Journey to Rara Lake will be one of the incredible journeys. The Rara Lake, surrounded by Rara National Park, has unique flora and fauna importance with rare and vulnerable species.

However, the main occupation of the people living around the area is agriculture. People also rear goats to extract medicinal herbs and sell them for their living. The glimpses of culture and scenery on the way are quite different from the rest of Nepal. Situated at a high altitude, you can find the lake surrounded by Rara National Park with pine, spruce, and juniper forests.

Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel.

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. So, you have to look for that person for your pick up from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2, Sightseeing UNESCO sites in Kathmandu

After breakfast, Sightseeing in world heritage sites such as Swoyambhunath (Monkey temple), Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Basantapur durbar square then back to the hotel.

Day 3, Flight to Nepalgunj (136m) and transfer to hotel.

The mornings can be used to carry out some last-minute re-checks. We will drive to Kathmandu Domestic Airport and fly to Nepalgunj on the afternoon flights. And transfer to the hotel.

Day 4, Flight to Jumla (2,370m) transfer to hotel.

Transfer to the airport early in the morning for the 45-minute flight to Jumla across the foothills of the Himalayas, with views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks to the north.
The town of Jumla is located in a lovely valley, where red rice is grown at its highest altitudes in paddy fields. The town serves as the administrative center for both the Jumla district and the broader Karnali zone.

Day 5, Trek to Danphe Langa (3,500m).
Day 6, Trek to Chautha (2,770m).
Day 7, Trek to Dhotu (2,380m).
Day 8, Trek to Rara Lake (2,980m).
Day 9, Explore Around Rara Lake.

The largest lake in Nepal is called Rara Lake. A day dedicated to walking around the lake would be well spent because it is almost 13 km long. In 1975, Rara was made a national park. This area, which is inaccessible and offers a wilderness experience unlike any other in Nepal, is home to a variety of wildlife, plants, and birds.
Himalayan bears, Sorrows, Gorals, Musk Deer, Red Pandas, and both Rhesus and Langur Monkeys are among the mammals found in this area. Otters live in the 180-meter-deep lake, which is also a crucial resting spot for waterfowl that are migrating.

Day 10, Trek to Ghorasain (3,190m).
Day 11, Trek to Sinja (2,440m).
Day 12, Trek to Jaljala Chaur (3,270m).
Day 13, Trek to Jumla (2,370m).
Day 14, Flight to Nepaljung to Kathmandu transfer to hotel

A beautiful 30-minute early-morning flight through the foothills of the Himalayas and spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks will take you to Nepalgunj. Depending on the time of the connecting flight to Kathmandu, upon arrival in Nepalgunj.

If it happens in the late afternoon, we will have time to rest for a few hours in the convenience of the Hotel in Nepalgunj. We next join a flight that will take us back to Kathmandu.

Day 15, Final Departure.

This will be the last day of your trip to Nepal. One of our staff will take you and your group to Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu for your final departure. We wish you and your group safe flights with unforgettable memory from your Nepal trip. Hope to see you again.

  • 3 nights hotel in Kathmandu with bed and breakfast and a 1-night hotel in Nepalgunj/Pokhara.
