Maya Devi Temple

How to Get to Lumbini?

There are two possibilities to reach Lumbini.

By Air: You can fly from Kathmandu to Gautam Buddha International Airport (Bhairahawa), 22 km from Lumbini.

By Road: You can drive by car or tourist bus from major cities like Kathmandu (approx. 8–9 hours) or Pokhara (approx. 6–7 hours).

The October to May months are the best time to visit Lumbini, April to May months are very hot in April and May.

How many days take to visit Lumbini?

There are no exact times; it depends on your holiday time and interest. Normally 3/ 4 days is enough to visit Lumbini. The Lumbini tour you can do after or before your trekking, climbing adventure. Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu (TIA) transfer to hotel

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. So, you have to look for that person for your pick up from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2: Flight to Bhairahawa and drive to Lumbini

One of our company staff will take you from your hotel to domestic airport in Kathmandu for the flight to Bhairahawa. Your airport pick up and drive to Lumbini. At afternoon,

Visit Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, and Sacred Pond.

Explore nearby monasteries.

Day 3: Full Day Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, visit to World Peace Pagoda.

Continue monastic zone tour (East & West zones).

Optional: Visit Tilaurakot (ancient Kapilvastu – palace of King Suddhodana, Buddha’s father), about 27 km from Lumbini.

Day 4: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

After breakfast, you will drive to Bhairahawa airport for a flight to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
