The Khopra Danda Khayer Lake Trek is a recently explored and less touristy trekking route. The Khopra Trek gives a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. The trek route passes through a lovely community with a diverse population of ethnic groups. Additionally, it is rich in natural and cultural history, as well as diverse flora and fauna.

The Muldai/Mulde Peak (3,638 m) and Khopra Danda (3,670 m) are all part of the Khopra Trek. Similarly, Poon Hill stands at 3,210 meters, which is a very famous viewpoint in the Annapurna region. The view from Mulde Hill also includes more than 25 mountain summits.

Khopra Danda difficulty level

The Khayer Lake Trek is moderate; it is a short and beautiful trek. You can enjoy the incredible Himalayan vistas from Khopra Danda and Khayer Baraha Lake. The Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges are the main attraction of the trek. The lake is small and beautiful; it is holy. The trail from Khopra Community Lodge to the lake is a little bit difficult due to the high altitude. It will be more challenging to reach Baraha Lake if there is snow on the way.

Best Time for Khayer Lake Trek

The best time to visit the Khayer Lake trek (Khopra Ridge) is the autumn season (September to November) and the spring season (March to May). These months are best for trekking and hiking. The winter season is not ideal for this trek, as snow will cover the trail. But if you have a holiday for the winter, you can do the Khopra Danda Trek this month.

But you can do this trek in the monsoon season, when the weather is unclear. It is the cloudy and rainy season. But you can enjoy your trek, seeing the many different types of seasonal flowers and wildlife.

Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival at Kathmandu Airport (1,350m) and transfer to hotel

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks, heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. Therefore, you have to look for that person for your pickup from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2, Drive to Pokhara (850m) and Transfer to hotel.

After breakfast, we will take a scenic drive to Pokhara for about 5/6 hours. The distance between Kathmandu and Pokhara is 200 kilometers. Your transfer to the hotel.

Day 3, Drive to Ghandruk (1,940m). Stay at tea house.

After breakfast, we have to drive from Pokhara to Nayapul on the road to Beni Baglung. Next, we will take a different road to Ghandruk, which will pass through Birethanti. Ghandruk is a lovely Gurung village. You can enjoy seeing the beautiful mountain views just in front of you from here.

Day 4, Trek to Dobato (3,426m). Stay at tea house.

Our trails begin gradually climbing to Tadapani after breakfast. The trails pass through the picturesque Rhododendron Forest and the little settlement of Bhaisi Kharka. Along the trails, you can spot numerous bird species and listen to their chirping songs. We will continue our ascent to Tadapani. It is a wonderful place to stay; you can enjoy seeing big and tall rhododendron trees around here. The Annapurna and Manaslu Himalayan ranges are perfectly visible from here. Tadapani is the junction of the Ghorepani-Ghandruk and Annapurna base camp trekking trails.

After lunch at Tadapani, we abandoned all routes and moved north, climbing the natural way to re-enter the rhododendron woodland. Along the trails, you may take in various plants and animals, and this area offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Similarly, the area provides the closest views of Annapurna South and Fishtail. The trail takes us to Meshar, Isharu, and Deaurali Pass (3,430 m), and finally we reach (Bhaisi Kharka) Dobato.

Day 5, Hike to Mulde Peak (3,638m), and Trek to Sistibang (3,050m). Stay at tea house.

Early in the morning, hike to Mulde Peak (3,638 m) and enjoy seeing the breathtaking Himalayan panorama and sunrise. You can enjoy seeing more than 25 mountain peaks from here. Then go back to the hotel and have breakfast. After that, we’re going to Sistibung (Dhan Kharka) today. To get to Sistibung, our tracks descend via a lovely yak pasture and dense woodland. From here, routes ascend through subtropical vegetation to reach an upper town. Numerous bird species, including Nepal’s national bird, the “Danphe” Monal, and pheasant, can be seen along the paths, as well as mammals including barking deer, Himalayan tahr, and musk deer along the grassy ridge.

Day 6, Trek to Khopra Danda (3,670m). Stay at tea house.

We continued our ascent to Khopra Danda today, going through a forest with alpine meadows and grassland. Incredibly beautiful views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and Nilgiri, as well as the entirety of the Annapurna range and the valley view of Kali Gandaki, can be seen from Khopra. The Khopra Danda is the best and most well-known viewpoint in the Annapurna region.

Day 7, Hike to Khayer Lake (4,620m) and back to same tea house.

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will start our day hike to Khayar Lake (the Holy Lake). Amazing views of Mt. Fishtail, the Annapurna range, and many other mountains are available from the hikes. Today is a long and challenging day due to the high altitude. But it is a beautiful day walking with a magnificent view of the Himalayas just in front of your eyes in clear weather. If there is snow on the way, the journey to Khayer Lake will be the hardest of this trek. After visiting this holy lake, we will go back to the same community lodge at Khopra.

Day 8, Trek descend to Swanta Village (2,214m). Stay at tea house.

Today, we will make a long descent to Swanta village. Nice walking through the giant forest and enjoying seeing the waterfall, green valley, and wildlife along the trail to reach this beautiful village. You can take a short walk to see the beautiful waterfall and wild beehives.

Day 9, Trek to Ghorepani (2,860m). Stay at tea house

After breakfast, we will start our journey by descending the river and crossing the suspension bridge. Thereafter, the trail leads us to ascend to Phalante, Chitre, and finally reach Ghorepani. It is a very popular tourist destination in Nepal.

Day 10, Hike to Poonhill (3,210m), Trek descet to Tikhe Dhunga (1,540m) and Drive to Pokhara

Early morning Hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) and enjoy incredible mountain views of the Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Similarly, you will see Nilgiri North and South, Tukuche Peak, and many other beautiful mountains.

You will experience the wonderful sunrise view, explore the Green Valley, and enjoy much more. Breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast trek descends to Tikhedhunga and drives to Pokhara

Day 11, Drive to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.

Returning to Kathmandu entails a 7-hour trip through the Trisuli River and via numerous towns. You can spend your time relaxing or shopping for souvenirs to take home. In the evening, we will offer a goodbye dinner with cultural dance performances in a traditional restaurant to commemorate your incredible journey.
