Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek is a beautiful and popular trekking trail in Nepal. It is a flexible trekking route that lets you set your pace. The trekkers can make the journey a short hike or a long hike. Both are possible, but it depends on your holiday time in Nepal.
We design the Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary according to your holiday time and interests. Our ABC Short Trek starts from Ghandruk Village, after a drive or trek from Pokhara. Then continue to Chhomrong Village. It is a lovely village. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna III, and Fishtail, all very close to your eye.
After Chhomrong, our trekking trail leads us downhill to the river. After crossing the river, we will continue to Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, and Himalaya. Likewise, the trail leads us to continue to Deaurali, MBC, and then finally reach our final destination, Annapurna Base Camp, 4,130 m.

Accessibility: This beautiful trek offers a relatively accessible route compared to other treks in the Himalayas. With well-marked trails and a range of teahouses along the way, it is suitable for both seasoned trekkers and beginners.

Physical Fitness: While the Annapurna Base Camp Trek does not require technical climbing skills, it is essential to be in excellent physical condition. Engage in regular exercise and endurance training before embarking on the trek to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
Acclimatization: Allow your body to acclimatize to the increasing altitude by taking rest days and gradually ascending. This will help minimize the risk of altitude-related illnesses and ensure a safer and more enjoyable trek.
Packing Essentials: Pack wisely, including appropriate trekking gear such as sturdy hiking boots, warm clothing, a sleeping bag, and a good-quality backpack. Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a first aid kit.
Maintain Hydration and Nutrition: Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water while on the hike. Additionally, fuel your body with nutritious meals at the teahouses to maintain your energy levels and support your physical endurance.
Respect Nature and Culture: Help preserve the natural beauty and cultural integrity of the Annapurna region by practicing responsible trekking. Follow designated trails, avoid littering, and respect local customs and traditions.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek, also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. It takes you through diverse landscapes, including forests, terraced fields, and villages, offering spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges and surrounding views.
The Annapurna base camp trek usually takes about 7 to 14 days, depending on the chosen route and adaptation needs. Each day unfolds with discoveries as you traverse diverse landscapes and encounter nature at its most pristine. ABC Trek is known as very flexible, so you can do this trek on your time frame.
Well, it is the right question. The Annapurna Base Camp trek is easier than the Everest Base Camp trek. Everest base camp is more challenging than Annapurna base camp due to the high altitude, oxygen level, and remoteness. The highest altitude of Annapurna base camp is 4130 meters, and Everest base camp is 5364 meters above sea level, so if we compare these two popular treks, there is no doubt that the trek to Everest base camp is harder than ABC.
The trek to Annapurna base camp is categorized as moderate. It is not very difficult, and you don’t need any special training for mountain climbing and high-altitude trekking. But during the winter, when there is snow on the way, it is harder and more challenging. At this time, it will be riskier to avoid the avalanche, especially around Deurali. But you will have an experienced guide who will inform and care for you.
The best time to trek to Annapurna Base Camp is during the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (autumn) seasons. In spring (March to May), the road is dotted with vibrant azaleas, and the weather is mild and pleasant. Autumn (September to December) has clear skies, beautiful mountain views, and pleasant temperatures. These seasons create the perfect conditions for trekking, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Himalayas.
Finally, the ABC Trek costs depend on your group size, the duration of the day, and the types of services. So we at Himalaya Darshan Treks offer some different packages, such as budget packages, full board packages, and service packages. Likewise, we also provide a trek guide or porter hire service. Normally, the cost ranges from $565 to $1050 per person.
How do I get to the starting point of the ABC Trek?
The trek usually starts in Pokhara, a famous tourist city in central Nepal. You can reach Pokhara by bus, flight, or private vehicle from Kathmandu. You can spend one night in Pokhara, then take a short drive to the trek starting point.
While it’s not strictly necessary to hire a guide or porter, having one can enhance your experience by providing valuable information about the local culture, flora, and fauna, and ensuring your safety. So we highly recommend trekking with a guide.
Are the permits necessary for the Annapurna Trek?
Of course, you will need two different permits: the TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry permit.
Where do I stay during the ABC Trek?
There are several lodges and guest houses along the route that offer accommodation and meals. After Sinuwa, there are limited teahouses, so we have to make early reservations during the main trekking season. We encourage you to book your trek to Annapurna Base Camp early.
Is the ABC trek safe?
If you take certain precautions, trekking in Nepal is generally safe. The Annapurna Base Camp trek is not particularly dangerous, but it’s important to be aware of potential risks like altitude sickness, weather changes, heavy snowfall, and avalanches.

After breakfast, we will drive to Pokhara for about 6/7 hours by tourist bus. The distance between Kathmandu and Pokhara is 200 kilometers. Your transfer to the hotel. The rest of the time, you can enjoy visiting Lakeside Pokhara.
After breakfast at your hotel, we will take a relaxing drive to Jhinu Danda with a private Jeep. We will follow the Modi Khola valleys and drive through bumpy roads to reach near Jhinu. Thereafter, we will embark on a short trek to Jhinu Danda, which is located at an elevation of 1,780 m. From here, you can enjoy the views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Continue ascending to Chhomrong village and stop for lunch here. After lunch, trek down to the bottom of the village to cross the suspension bridge and ascend to Lower Sinuwa (2170 m).
After breakfast, we will start our journey to the Upper Sinuwa, Bamboo, and Himalayan hotels and continue to reach Deaurali. We will stroll through the picturesque forest, taking in the sights of numerous birds and wildlife, particularly white monkeys, as well as a stunning waterfall. As we trek through the Himalayas, the jungle begins to thin out, allowing us to experience the alpine vegetation for the first time. Only 4/5 tea houses exist in Deaurali.
Depending on the season, our journey today takes us along a trail that is frequently covered in snow to the Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m. You are fortunate to have awe-inspiring views of the massive mountain Annapurna I, 8,091 m, and enjoy the breathtaking views of many other mountains. Enjoy the sunset and sunrise view of the Himalayas. We will reach our final and dream destination, Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m.
Wake up early in the morning, and enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Annapurna and other snow-capped mountains. From here, the sunrise in the mountains is wonderful. After enjoying the views, we have breakfast at the hotel, and then we trek down the same way back to Upper/Lower Sinuwa. The pleasant walk through the lush forest is a wonderful way to enjoy seeing many birds and wildlife. The white monkeys are the main attraction along the trail.
Today, our trekking trail leads us to Jhinu Dada, following the same route that some people use to ascend and descend to Chhomrong. From Chhomrong Danda, we will follow a different trail all the way steeply downhill to Jhinu Danda. After about 20 minutes of walking, descend and ascend from the hotel to reach Jeep Station. Then we will drive to Pokhara by private or shared jeep. Depends on your packages. In the evening, you can enjoy, rest, and relax in Pokhara.
Returning to Kathmandu entails a 7-hour trip through the Trisuli River and via numerous towns. You can spend your time relaxing or shopping for souvenirs to take home. In the evening, we will offer a goodbye dinner with cultural dance performances in a traditional restaurant to commemorate your incredible journey.
Optional Choice:
NOTE: You will be responsible for covering the costs of your accommodation, food, and other expenses in Kathmandu. If you return early from the trek due to illness or any other issue, the payment you made is non-refundable. The money you paid has already been spent on transportation, permits, guides’ salaries, hotels in Kathmandu, mountain lodging, food, etc. Therefore, in this case, it is not refundable.
