One Reply to “Annapurna Base Camp Trek”

  1. In October 2019, we trekked to Annapurna Base Camp with Himalaya Darshan Treks Pvt Ltd, my sixth trip to Nepal, but the first for my travel companion. We are both 70 years old. We recommend Gyan Katuwal and Himalaya Darshan Treks for their careful planning, route and environmental knowledge, the cultural experiences they provide along the way and their very good care of us.

Gyan was our guide and Bhim Rai our porter. Trekking with them gave us cultural and environmental experiences and knowledge. They worked together with us, so that we felt like a team. Gyan is a superb planner, always thinking ahead, and mindful of our ability and needs. We enjoyed their company and felt safe with them both.

Gyan has planned and safely led my last three treks, in 2010, 2017, and now 2019, from airport pickup to airport dropoff. He manages all permits required, internal bus or plane travel, advises on packing, good trekking routes for the season, overnight stops, and excursions. The Himalayan Darshan Treks all-inclusive package is cost effective, does all the hard tasks of trekking arrangements, so that our holiday began on arrival in Kathmandu.

My favourite area to trek is the Annapurna Conservation Area. Our destination was the Annapurna Sanctuary, inside the semicircle of the beautiful Annapurna mountains. You can be at the base (4130m) of Annapurna 1, an 8000 metre peak, and the 10th highest mountain in the world after four or five days trekking, and with little effect from altitude. En route to Pokhara to begin the trek, we visited Lumbini on the border with India, for two days; Lumbini is the birthplace of Buddha and a World Heritage Site.
