The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Ghorepani Poonhill is a significant adventure. It takes hikers through the majestic landscapes of the Annapurna region of Nepal. It combines two popular trails, the Annapurna Circuit and the Ghorepani Poonhill, providing a diverse and breathtaking experience for nature lovers and mountaineers.
The journey begins in Besisahar, where trekkers commence on the Around Annapurna, a classic trek known for its stunning mountain views, lush valleys, and diverse cultural encounters. The trail winds through picturesque villages, rice terraces, and rhododendron forests, gradually increasing in height as hikers approach Thorong La Pass, whose peak is 5,416 meters. The pass offers impressive panoramas of snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Ghorepani Poon Hill is the best way to see the Himalayas. This famous trail is always rated as one of the best long-distance hikes in the world. It takes you through a wide range of landscapes, from lush subtropical jungles to the high-altitude arctic tundra of the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). You can see the full beauty of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs in one trip by combining the classic circuit with the famous Poon Hill sunrise.
After conquering the challenging summit of Thorong La Pass, they descend into the Mustang region, where the landscape changes dramatically. It showcases arid terrain and ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Then the road leads to Jomsom, a bustling town known for its apple orchards and high winds. From Jomsom, you will drive to Tatopani and then continue to Ghorepani, the gateway to the famous Poon Hill lookout.
The Ghorepani Poonhill trek offers a different perspective of the Annapurna region. The highlight of the trek is the sunrise over the snow-capped peaks. Early in the morning, you will hike to Poon Hill, which sits at an elevation of 3,210 meters (10,531 feet). As the sun rises, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, enlightening the entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges in golden hues. The view is truly spectacular and leaves an unforgettable impression on all who witness it.
The tour continues through beautiful rhododendron forests and charming Gurung villages. It allows visitors to learn about the local culture and way of life. The road eventually leads back to Tikhedhunga, where the adventure ends.
The spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) seasons are ideal for the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Ghorepani Poonhill. The trail is decorated with colorful rhododendron forests in bloom during the spring. You can find clear mountain views in the fall. These times of year offer consistent weather, which makes hiking comfortable and visibility excellent.
While this trek is a remarkable adventure, it’s important to note that it falls under the category of moderately challenging treks. If there is snow on the way, it makes the trek relatively challenging. It requires excellent fitness and some prior climbing experience. Climbing to the heights and crossing the Thorong La Pass poses the greatest challenges, requiring adequate climatic and physical preparation. Altitude sickness is a concern, and hikers should know the symptoms and take the necessary precautions.

After breakfast, we’ll take a one-and-a-half-hour rocky trail trek to Chamje hamlet, a small rural population surrounded by bamboo bushes with a primary school. The adventure continues with a suspension bridge across the Marshyangdi River just after leaving Chamje.
You will view a waterfall, rocky hills, trails, and a little teashop before entering the Manang district soon before Tal village. This is a lovely community on the riverbank with a stunning waterfall view. You’ll cross the river and continue trekking through the cliffs above the river to <strong>Dharapani village.
Bagarchhap is about an hour’s walk from Dharapani. This lovely village may see the first glimpse of Mt. Annapurna II. On this day, you will pass through a few steep forested landscapes and multiple landslides; nonetheless, keep your eyes out for some spectacular views of prominent Himalayan peaks.
On your way to Chame on this day, you’ll pass through some traditional Tibetan villages (2670 m). Chame is Manang’s district headquarters and one of the most picturesque Himalayan settlements, with near views of Mt. Lamjung and Annapurna II.
Another beautiful stroll through a narrow, steep trail that follows the riverbank will lead you to the settlement of Bratang, where you can stop for tea. Thereafter, we followed the forested walk and rough trails for an hour before crossing the suspension bridge and arriving at Dhukur Pokhari for lunch.
This little village will see the first view of Pisang Mountain and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After lunch, we’ll walk for an hour to reach Upper Pisang
Today, the Annapurna Range shields the drier upper route from the monsoon’s full force. For a portion of the year, the people of this region herd yaks and grow vegetables.
The trail continues from Mungji to adjacent Manang, passing through the scenic but largely hidden settlement of Braga (3475 m). We will visit an ancient and historical monastery at Braga. Thereafter, it’s about half an hour’s walk to reach Manang village.
In Manang, we spent the day acclimating. We spent the entire day doing beautiful day hikes and marveling at the breathtaking vistas around the village; daytime is the optimum time to gain altitude.
The charming community of roughly 500 flat-roofed dwellings is nestled amid some outstanding landscapes—Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7555 m), and Gangapurna (7454 m) to the south; Tilicho (7132 m) and the Grand Barrier to the west; and Chulu West (6583 m) and Chulu East (6059 m) to the north. We return to our lodging and retire for the night at the end of the day.
After a magnificent exploration of Manang village this morning, we started for Yak Kharka, leaving the route to Tilicho Lake on the left corner and continuing a short hike up to Yak Kharka (4250 m), a little community nestled at the base of the mountain (4110 m). We’ll climb gradually towards a small hill, then turn right behind it to reach Yak Kharka/Ledar (4,200 m), where we’ll spend the night. Remind yourself that you can hike up to a small hill for a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
Another short day with views from above takes you to Thorong Phedi’s pass for lunch. A small yet bustling community that caters to the requirements of hikers and climbers. It is located at the base of the Thorong-La, and the trails continue to ascend to the top of the Thorong-La. We trek for an hour after lunch to reach a Thorong high camp (4,925 m) for the night.
Early in the morning, we will start our hike to Thorong La Pass at 5,416 m. The hike from the high camp to Thorong La Pass takes about 3 hours. It is an adventurous day on your trek. We will slowly (Hillary Steeps) ascend our footsteps, with an incredible mountain view of the Annapurna Himalayan range. After 2.5 to 3 hours of walking, we will finally reach our final destination, the Thorong La Top. It is difficult walking at a high altitude, but you feel proud of yourself. To reach this high will be on your lifetime experience.
After the summit of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), we will trek down to Phedi through a steep and slippery way. Having launched here, continue walking to reach Muktinath.
In the morning, visit Muktinath Temple (the holy place). Enjoy seeing the pilgrimage activities and breathtaking mountain views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. You can take a holy bath with 108 taps. Then go back to the hotel and have breakfast. Then we will drive to Tatopani (Hot Spring) via Jomsom.
Short, easy walk to Ghar Khola, then the trail leads us to Shikha village. We need to check our entry permit for the Annapurna Conservation Area. Have lunch here, then continue walking to Phalate, Chitre, and Ghorepani. It is a long ascent on this trek. Ghorepani is a very nice place to stay; you can enjoy the great Himalayan panorama, good accommodation, and delicious food here.
Early morning, hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m), enjoy a magic sunrise, and take in incredible mountain views of the Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Likewise, Nilgiri North and South, Tukuche Peak, and surrounding views
Then back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, our trek descends to <strong>Ulleri or Tikhedhunga. Stay at a guesthouse.

After lunch in Pokhara, you will have free time to explore this beautiful tourist city. There are many beautiful places to visit and enjoy in Pokhara.
Returning to Kathmandu entails a 7-hour trip through the Trisuli River and via numerous towns. You can spend your time relaxing or shopping for souvenirs to take home.
