Arun-Silicho-Panch Pokhari Trek

The Arun-Silicho-Panch Pokhari Trek is located at an altitude of 4,345 m. It covers the Sankuwasabha, Bhojpur, and Solukhumbu districts in the Makalu Region. It shows the beautiful wilderness and the beauty of nature. The Arun Valley to Panch Pokhari trek is one of the best trails for village trekking, offering stunning views of mountains and beautiful lakes.

It is a peaceful trekking trail in Makalu and the lower Solukhumbu region. The Arun-Silicho-Panch Pokhari Trek starts from Tumlingtar, after a scenic flight of 35 to 40 minutes from Kathmandu. Then our trek begins from Tumlingtar and follows the popular Arun River valley until we turn into the Irkhu River Valley. Our journey continues, passing through beautiful villages, rivers, and waterfalls.

Arun Valley is also famous for birdwatching, so our trek makes it more attractive to see many different types of birds. Then we finally reach the Salpa Bhanjyang at 3,350 m and the holy Lake Salpa Pokhari. We will hike to Silichung Peak, 4,156 m, which is the second-highest destination on this trek.

Arun Salpa Silichong Peak Trek

The Silichong Peak, 4,156 m, is the second-highest rocky mountain peak in this trek. From Salpa, we have to hike about 2.5 hours uphill to the summit of Silicho Peak. This peak is bordered by four districts: Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, and Sankhuwasabha. Silicho Danda (4,156 m) offers a clear view of Mt Everest 8,848m, Mt Lhotse (8,516 m), and Mt. Makalu (8,463 m).

Likewise, the Kanchenjunga Himalayan range is 8,586 m, and Nuptse is 7,861 m. Continuing to Mera Peak 6,476 m (a famous climbing peak) and Chamlang 7,319 m. Besides that, Number Himal is 6,958 m, and there are more than 20 other beautiful peaks. Both Salpa Lake and Silichho Peak are known for their religious significance, as they are believed to be holy in the Kirat Community.

Arun Valley Panch Pokhari Trek

After that, we will descend and continue our trek to Mahakulung Rural Municipality, trekking through beautiful Kulung/Kirat and Sherpa villages. Walking through the beautiful forest may be an amazing experience for you. From March to May, the forest blooms in color with rhododendron flowers. We will finally reach Panch Pokhari at 4,345 m (5 glacial lakes), which is the highest destination for your Panch Pokhari Trek.

After enjoying the view of the beautiful 5 Lakes, our trek continues to descend into Sotang Rural Municipality via Hurhure La Pass (4,274 m). From Sontag, we will drive to Phaplu. It is the ending point of our Arun Valley Panch Pokhari Trek. We will have to fly to Kathmandu.
