Jomsom Muktinath Trek Via Ghorepani

The Jomsom Muktinath Trek via Ghorepani is a very popular trekking trail in the Annapurna region. It is located in the midwestern part of Nepal in the Myagdi and Mustang districts. The Mustang district has two parts: upper and lower. Jomsom Muktinath is the lower part of Mustang. Muktinath and Kagbeni are the borders of the lower and upper Mustang.

Especially, our trek starts from Nayapul, passing through the popular Ghorepani Poonhill viewpoint and the natural hot spring at Tatopani. And the Kaligandaki River valley is followed by the world’s deepest gorge, Dana George. It follows the Kali Gandaki River valley to Jomsom. But if trekkers don’t have enough time, they can do a short trek. Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and trek to Muktinath.

Visit Muktinath Temple

Mainly, Muktinath is a very famous pilgrimage site in Nepal. Muktinath Temple is the holy temple of Lord Vishnu. Jomsom Muktinath trekking trail is included in the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Thousands of pilgrims from India and different parts of Nepal visit here. Furthermore, 108 cows’ heads are sacred water spouts flowing with cold water. Where pilgrimage takes a quick holy bath.

Besides that, from Muktinath, you can enjoy seeing incredible mountain views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Nilgiri, and beautiful landscape views of Upper Mustang. Likewise, this region is renowned for the ethnic group of Thakali people and their unique culture.

Along the way to Muktinath, you can visit ancient and historical monasteries like Kagbeni, Jharkot, and Jong Monastery. From the Jong, you can see the view of the way to Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), the highest pass in the world. It will be your lifetime experience for your spiritual tour in Nepal. Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1,400m) and transfer to hotel

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks, warmly welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. So, you have to look for that person for your pickup from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2, Drive to Pokhara (850m) and Transfer to hotel.

After breakfast, we will drive to Pokhara for about 5/6 hours. The distance between Kathmandu and Pokhara is 200 kilometers. Pokhara is a beautiful tourist city, so there are many highlighted places to visit, and you can do many tourist activities there. It will be before and after your trek.

Day 3, Drive to Birethanti and Trek to Ulleri (2,120m).

After breakfast in Pokhara, we will take a scenic drive to Nayapul through the highway to Baglung by taxi/car (it depends on your group size). From here, we will start our walking to Ulleri. Lunch at Tikhedhunga, and then we will continue our trekking all the way uphill to Ulleri

Day 4, Trek to Ghorepani (2,860m).

After breakfast, we will start our second day of trekking. We will be walking through a beautiful jungle, specifically a rhododendron forest. Trekking from March to May is very colorful with rhododendrons blooming. We will continue to Nayathanti, passing through Banthanti, and stop for lunch. After lunch, continue our journey to Ghorepani at 2,860 m. It is a lovely and famous place for the short trek in Annapurna. We will stay at a beautiful hotel, and we will have delicious food at Ghorepani.

Day 5, Hike to poonhill (3,210m), Trek to Sikha.

Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) (enjoy incredible mountain views of the Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges). Similarly, you can also enjoy views of Nilgiri North and South, Tukuche Peak, Sunrise View, Green Valley, and many other attractions. Then trek to descend to Sikha.

Day 6, Trek to Tatopani (1,190m),

After breakfast, we will continue the trek descent to Ghar Khola, then cross the bridge, do a short walk, and then again need to cross the suspension bridge on the Kaligandaki River. After that, we will trek through the road to reach Tatopani. (Natural hot spring) Enjoy with natural hot spring.

Day 7, Drive to Muktinath (3,860m) by Jeep.

After breakfast, we will catch a bus or jeep to drive to Muktinath. It will be a relaxing drive through the Kali Gandaki River valley to reach Muktinath.

Day 8, Visit to Muktinath Temple and drive to Jomsom (2,720m).

Muktinath is a lovely place. After late breakfast, we will visit Muktinath Temple. It is a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhists. There is a small and beautiful Bishnu temple made in pagoda style. Here, you will see Tibetan traders and sadhus (holy men) from as far away as the south of India.

There are 108 sacred water taps; the devotees take a quick holy bath in these taps for their refreshment. It is the especially best spot for natural gas spots. Besides that, you can visit many old and historic monasteries too.

Muktinath is the best place to see beautiful mountain views. After visiting the temple, we will take a jeep to drive to Jomsom. Enjoy visiting Jomsom; it is the headquarters of the Mustang district.

Day 9, Flight to Pokhara transfer to hotel.

We will fly back to Pokhara and transfer to the hotel. Thereafter, you have free time to visit Pokhara. Sightseeing in Pokhara includes visiting the International Mountain Museum, boating at Phewa Lake, and other activities.

Day 10, Drive to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.

Returning to Kathmandu entails a 7-hour trip through the Trisuli River and via numerous towns. You can spend your time relaxing or shopping for souvenirs to take home. In the evening, we will offer a goodbye dinner with cultural dance performances in a traditional restaurant to commemorate your incredible journey.
