Mardi Himal Tea House Trek

Mardi Himal Trek: Go Higher, Get Closer. The Fishtail’s Secret Balcony.

The Mardi Himal Tea House Trek is a new and short trekking trail in the Annapurna Region. It is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path journey that gives hikers a unique chance to get to know the mountains. The path winds through old moss-covered rhododendron forests and narrow ridges that rise high into the sky. In the spring, the flowers turn bright pink and red. This trek is perfect for people who want to get away from the crowds and into a peaceful alpine wilderness while still enjoying the comforts of a traditional Nepalese teahouse trek.

As you climb higher, the scenery changes from lush greenery to rough, high-altitude land, and finally, you reach the base of the famous Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). At 4,500 meters, Mardi Himal Base Camp offers a wonderful 360-degree view of the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, and Hiunchuli. They look so close that you could almost touch them. This hike is the perfect mix of a physical challenge and a spiritual boost. It takes you to the “Throne of the Gods” quickly, without the weeks-long commitment that is usually needed to see such wonderful views in the Himalayas.

Our guests are enjoying the beautiful Annapurna himalayan range from Mardi Himal Trek

Why should you choose Mardi Himal?

  • Amazing Views of the Mountains: You can see the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, and Hiunchuli from “eye-level.” No other trek gets you as close to Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m) as this one.
  • Short and Easy: This trek is ideal for people who don’t have a lot of time because it can be done in less than a week, starting and ending in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. If you have 5 to 7 days’ time, it is enough for this trek.
  • Eco-Adventure and Solitude: The trail is fairly new (it opened in 2012), so there aren’t as many people on it, which makes it easier to connect with nature.
  • Different Landscapes: You go from lush subtropical jungles and blooming Rhododendron forests to rocky alpine ridges and snowy high-altitude base camps in just a few days.

Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp

The Mardi Himal Base Camp, 4,500 m, is the highest elevation of the Mardi Himal Trek. The most challenging part of the Mardi Himal Trek is the ascent from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp, which involves walking through rocky trails. You have to spend one night at high camp, 3,580 m. Walking from Forest Camp to Low Camp is a delightful jungle walk.

You can enjoy seeing many different types of trees, including rhododendron. In addition to birdwatching, which includes many different sounds from various types of birds, this experience makes your trek pleasant. Furthermore, the trekking trail is renowned for its wildlife. It is also popular for Mardi Himal Peak climbing.

Mardi Himal Trek Cost 2026

Mardi Himal Trek, Teahouse Trek, Sunset view

Here are some tips for ensuring the success of your trek in 2026.

  • Pack for all four seasons: Even in the spring, temperatures at High Camp can drop below freezing. So I highly recommend bringing enough warm clothes and necessary things.
  • Stay Hydrated: It’s important to drink 3–4 liters of water every day to get used to the higher altitude. During this multi-day trek, you need to ascend above 4500 m, so always pay attention to your body’s signals regarding high altitude.
  • Book Early: If possible, book your holiday earlier so there will be enough time to manage and book your accommodation easily. The teahouses at High Camp and during the trek are not very crowded, but there aren’t many of them. Therefore, we need to make early bookings or reservations for the main trekking season.
