The Mundum Trek (Mundum Trekking Trail) is a popular Kirant Rai cultural trail. This trekking trail connects the 3 districts of Nepal, which are Khotang, Bhojpur, and Solukhumbu. It is gorgeous and less crowded, so it will be perfect for your holiday in Nepal. The Mundum Trekking Trail is a newly explored cultural and natural trekking route in Eastern Nepal, offering a perfect blend of pristine landscapes, rich traditions, and breathtaking Himalayan views. Our Mundum Trek Route, starting from the Diktel bazaar, passes through the beautiful settlements of Chakhewa, Maiyung, and Rawadhap. Likewise, we had a continuous hike to Salpa Danda and Silicho Peak (4,165 m), the final destination of our trek. From the Salpa, you have other opportunities to continue your journey to Everest Base Camp if you have enough time. Otherwise, you can end your trek at Bhojpur and then drive or fly back to Kathmandu.

Finally, the Mundum Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in eastern Nepal, famous for the culture, religion, and lifestyle of the Kirant Rai people. Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks, heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. Therefore, you have to look for that person for your pickup from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2, Drive to Diktel Bazar (1,650m). Stay at tea house

Your guide picks you up from the hotel and drives you on a 12-hour bus ride to Diktel, from where you may reach Diktel Bazar. The Rai and Kirat tribes have an impact on the local market and its customs. You can observe many blended traditional and modern influences in the lifestyle and in the home.

Day 3, Trek to Chakhewa Village (2,300m). Stay at tea house

The trekking route takes us to Chakewa after breakfast. Easy hiking is being done here. Explore the lovely Dorap Chiuri Danda and Dobela village today. You will experience rural life in Mundum Trek in a way that exceeds your expectations.

Day 4, Trek to Dhotre (2,752m), Stay at tea house.

Enjoy breakfast while taking in the Chakewa Village sunrise. Then proceed on foot until you reach the Dhotre settlement. You will bridge the Maluwa, Dalsinga, and Merung Danda Ridges.

Day 5, Trek to Maiyung (3,122m), Stay at tea house.

The hiking trail we’re taking today is short, simple, and full of sights. We’ll set out on our hike again today after breakfast. Before arriving at our final point, Maiyung, we will traverse Chhimalung Pass, the stunning Mani wall of Phokte, the hill point of Chautara, Mattim Danda, and the revered temple of Baspani Devisthan.

Day 6, Trek to Rawa Dhap (3,426m), Stay at tea house

We will make contact with the Mundum Trek Tribe today. We will develop closer ties with the Rai and Kirat communities. The Mundum Trek itinerary will be more exciting because of the hanging cultivated fields, working people, and their customs. Prior to arriving in Rawa Dhap, we will depart from Kirat Rai villages such as Satdobato, Hyakule, and Lauri Bina.

Day 7, Trek to Salpa Bhanjyang (3,348m), Stay at tea house.

We shall climb our way to Salpa Bhanjyang after breakfast. We will travel via areas with Mani Walls, including Nikasa, Handi Lake, and Salpa Pass. Another name for Salpa Pass is Kulu Pankha Bhanjyang. We shall take pleasure in the numerous stunning views from here as well as the modest but lovely Salpa Pokhari (Lake).

Day 8, Hike to Silichung Peak (4,165m) and trek descend to Guranse

Early morning hike to Silchung peak 4,165m (Enjoy incredible mountain views including Mt Everest 8,848.86m, Mt Lhotse 8,516m, Mt Makalu 8,463m. Likewise, the Mt. Kanchenjunga Himalayan range and many other beautiful mountain peaks. You will be treated to an incredible deep valley view, among many other breathtaking vistas. Then we will trek back to the Guranse.

Note: From here you have some other options to continue your trek to Lukla, Panch Pokhari. Another way to Phaplu is via the Sotang bazaar. It depends on your holiday time and your interest.

Day 9, Trek to Hyakule (2,972 Stay ta tea house.

By returning to the same route we took a few days earlier, we will trek down to Hyakule. Enjoy the intriguing locations and missing attractions. Spend the night in Hyakule.

Day 10, Trek to Hans pokhari (2,962m), Stay at tea house.

After breakfast, we will start our beautiful journey to Hans Pokhari. It is a lovely and nice place to stay. We will enjoy visiting/exploring the beautiful village.

Day 11, Trek to Bhojpur (1,600m), Stay at tea house.
Day 12, Flight/Drive back to Kathmandu
