The Panch Pokhari Mera Trek is a newly opened trekking destination and a beautiful trail in Nepal. It is located in the Mahakulung Rural Municipality in the Solukhumbu district. The trek is in the Makalu Barun National Park area. The secret and pristine Panch Pokhari (5 glacial lakes) offers a wonderful virgin trek to the eastern Himalayan region with outstanding mountain views.

This trekking trail is rich in natural as well as cultural heritage. The Panch Pokhari Valley Trek is a wonderful place to visit in eastern Nepal. The Panch Pokhari Trek starts at the Sotang/Bung Bazaar. After a 30-minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu, there were about 4 hours of lovely driving to reach Sotang Bazaar.

Panch Pokhari Mera Trek Route

We start the trek from Sotang to Khiraule (a beautiful Sherpa village) and pass through Chharakhar, Cholem, and Hurhure, then reach the beautiful 5 glacial lakes (Panch Pokhari). Panch Pokhari is a holy lake; there are five beautiful lakes with different names. Thousands of pilgrims visit these lakes during the full moon festival in August. It is a famous pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus.

Mera Peak Climbing

This trekking trail is particularly suitable for the lower route to Mera Peak Climbing and serves as an effective rescue route for climbers. It is the best and least risky route, too. This trekking trail links to the popular Arun Valley Salpa Pass Trekking trail at Bung (Beautiful Kulung/Kirat Village). The trail to Panch Pokhari and Mera Peak is not as much of an adventure as the Chhertmula Pass from Lukla. This route will be the best option for your Mera Peak climbing and the best for your acclimatization for the summit of Mera Peak.

Itinerary


Day 1, Arrival at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel.

We, Himalaya Darshan Treks, heartily welcome you and your group to Nepal. One of our company staff will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The person will be waiting outside the baggage hall of the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding an A4-size paper with your name and our company name. Therefore, you have to look for that person for your pickup from the airport. Your check-in at the hotel.

Day 2, Flight to phaplu and Drive to Sotang Bazaar (1620m) by private Jeep.

After breakfast, your guide takes you to Kathmandu domestic airport for your flight to Phaplu. It is about a 30-minute scenic flight from Kathmandu. We stop at Phaplu for lunch, and you can look around for a short visit to the Phaplu bazaar. After lunch, we will drive to the Sotang bazaar for 4 hours through the bumpy road. Sotang Bazaar is our final destination for the day.

Day 3, Trek to Khiraule 2,600m.

After breakfast, we will start our trek through some of the beautiful villages and do some nice jungle walking to reach Khiraule. It is a small and beautiful Sherpa village.

Day 4, Trek to (Jungle Camp) Cholem 3,560m.

The journey for today is pleasant, walking through the lovely jungle, mainly the rhododendron forest, and enjoying the small Phokte Pokhari (Lake) on the way. You can enjoy seeing some wildlife and birds. Then finally reach Jungle Camp (Cholem).

Day 5, Trek to Khola kharka via Hurhure La Pass 4,274m.

We will trek up, enjoying the beautiful surrounding views. We will traverse Hurhure La Pass (4,274 m) to reach Khola Kharka.

Day 6, Hike to Panch Pokhari 4,345m (Enjoy with great view of 5 beautiful glacial lakes and mountain views)

Early in the morning, we will start our journey (final destination) to Panch Pokhari (5 Lakes). We will ascend via a rocky stairway. You can enjoy the stunning scenery. You will see beautiful mountains, green valleys, and rivers before finally reaching the 5 Lakes (Panch Pokhari). It is such a lovely and beautiful place so you can fully enjoy your holiday to visit Panch Pokhari. It is also a way to Mera Peak Climbing via a lower route.

Day 7, Trek back to Taime Kharka.

After breakfast at Khola Kharka, we will descend on our trek to Taime Kharka. You can hike back down the same route if you don’t have enough time.

Day 8, Trek back to Chheskam (Beautiful Kulung/Kirat village)

From Chheskam you have 2 options: if you have enough time, you can continue your trek for a few more days to Shalpa Lake and Silichong Peak and to Tumlingtar.  If you don’t have enough time from Chheskam, you can trek back to Bung/Mahakulung and then drive to Phaplu. It depends on your holiday time.

Day 9, Drive from Cheskam/Bung to Phaplu.

Today we will drive to Phaplu for about 4/5 hours.

Day 10, Flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Today you say your goodbyes to the Himalayas and board a flight back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a city stroll and souvenir shopping in Kathmandu.

Day 11, Final departure.

This is the last day of your trip to Nepal. One of our staff will take you and your group to Tribhuwan International Airport for your final departure. We wish you and your group safe flights with unforgettable memories from your Nepal trip. Hope to see you again.
