Tamang Heritage Trail Trek

The Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in the Langtang region. Located in the Langtang National Park area. North of Kathmandu and the midlands of Nepal in the Rasuwa district.

The trek offers a peek at the Himalayan lifestyle and culture. The trek also offers a wilderness experience through the beautiful landscape of alpine terrain, flat meadows, and the rhododendron forest.

The trail passes through a traditional Tamang village. Life, culture, and crafts have remained unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. The trek starts at Syabrubesi and passes through Golgung and Gatlang. Likewise, Cilime, Thuman, Timure, and Bridie.

Traditional Tamang villages

The trek ends at Syabrubesi, or you can follow the Langtang trek from Bridim village. Golgung and Gatlang are traditional Tamang villages. The Timur is an old trade route to Tibet. A fort at Rasuwagadhi, in Timure, is a historical reminder of Nepal-Tibet relations. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet.

From this trail, you can see beautiful mountain views of Langtang Lirung, as well as Sanjen Himal, Ganesh Himal, and the Annapurna Himalayan range. The Himalayan scenery, the natural hot spring, and the Tamang Helmo’s traditional culture make the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek well-liked.

The most popular festivals in this area are the Syabru dance, the Khampa dance, and colorful performances during major festivals like Lhosar. The Langtang Valley Trek and the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek are also popular trekking trails in the Langtang region.

Itinerary

Day 1, Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by drive.
Day 2, Trek to Gatlang via Goljung.
Day 3, Trek to Tatopani.
Day 4, Trek to Thuman.
Day 5, Trek to Timure.
Day 6, Visit Rasuwagadi back to same hotel.
Day 7, Trek to Briddim.
Day 8, Trek to Syabrubesi.
Day 9, Back to Kathmandu by bus.

What is included in this package?

  • Airport pickup and drop-off by private vehicle.
  •  The package includes a 2-night hotel stay in Kathmandu, complete with bed and breakfast.
  •  Teahouse accommodation and 3 meals during the trek (breakfast/lunch, dinner, and tea/coffee).
  •  The bus will drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi and then back to Kathmandu.
  • If driving by private vehicle (Scorpio), it’s $305 extra for both ways.
  •  Experienced guide with salaries, food, accommodation, and insurance (1 porter for 2 trekkers).

What is excluded in this package?

  • Your expenses (phone calls, laundry, bar bills, battery recharge, extra porters, bottle or boiled water, hot shower, etc.)
  •  Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu.
  •  Your trekking gear.
  •  Your travel and rescue insurance.
  •  You will need to arrange for extra night accommodation in Kathmandu beyond what is included in the scheduled itinerary.
  •  Tips for the guide and staff.
  • Nepal entry visa fees (USD 30 for 15 days / USD 50 for 30 Days and USD 125 for 90 days)
  • If you like to take a porter to carry your luggage during the trek, the porter costs $140 for 8 days. One porter for two trekkers. (One porter can carry 18 to 20 kilograms.)
  • Desserts: Sweet things like chocolate, cake, pie, pudding, etc.
  • Any other expenses that are not mentioned in the cost are included.
