How difficult is Yala Peak climbing?
Yala Peak is generally considered a moderate, non-technical climb, suitable for beginners. The route is mostly scrambling on rocky paths, with a straightforward final ascent, which may involve walking on snow and ice, depending on the season.

Do I need prior climbing experience?
No prior technical climbing experience is mandatory. However, basic mountaineering skills (like using an ice axe and crampons) and previous high-altitude trekking experience are highly recommended. Your guide will typically provide basic training.
A typical Yala Peak climbing itinerary, including the Langtang Valley trek and acclimatization days, ranges from 10 to 13 days from Kathmandu and back, with the climbing day.

Is travel insurance required?
Of course, it is strongly recommended and often mandatory by HD Treks. Your insurance must cover emergency helicopter evacuation up to the maximum altitude of the climb, as well as medical and rescue expenses.
Tipping is NOT mandatory, but it is highly customary and expected in the trekking industry. Tipping your trekking guide and porter is an important way to show appreciation for their hard work—especially on treks in Nepal, where tips constitute a significant part of their income. The amount depends on the trek length, difficulty, and your satisfaction with their service.
The amount for tipping depends on the trek’s length, difficulty, and your satisfaction with their service. Basically, you can tip the guide, Climbing Sherpa, 12 to 15%, and the porter, 10 to 12%, of your full payment for your trekking package.
This is just a suggestion for tipping your guide and porter, but you can tip more if you’re happy with their service. Tips are always expected in the tourism sector of Nepal.
