I finally got around to writing this review. Sorry GB for my tardiness.
I have had the pleasure of having Gyan Katuwal (GB) as my guide on two separate treks in Nepal. My first trek with GB was in 2014 to the Lang tang region. I had been to Nepal before but I had always been on a group trek. On this trek, I was doing it alone. GB was recommended. GB’s service was excellent. I was impressed by his knowledge, his love of his country and people; and his demeanor – thoughtful, attentive, calm, and friendly.
I was so impressed with GB and his company – I did my second trek (Jiri to Everest Base Camp) with GB in November/December 2015. Again, GB did not disappoint. From liaising with me before my arrival to plan my trek; to meeting me at the airport and throughout the trek GBs service was excellent. Unfortunately, through no fault of GB, I had to cut short this second trek. GB was most helpful in organizing my early return to Kathmandu and accompanying me to the airline office to change my flight out of Nepal.
At all times I have found GB to be dependable, reliable, conscientious, honest, courteous, knowledgeable, and concerned about his client’s needs. He is always willing to go the extra mile. GB is an excellent organizer and deals effectively both with his fellow countrymen and women; and with tourists/trekkers visiting Nepal.
Superior under stress or change in circumstances, GB is calm and patient; taking it all in his strides and resolving issues or problems without fuss, making him an excellent guide. During the treks, he always makes sure that you are safe and well. He is kind and attentive without being in your face and/or overbearing. If you are happier trekking alone he will give you space but is never too far away. If you have questions about the region, its people, and its culture, GB will share with you his local knowledge and experience.
GB is a lovely person and very family oriented. I had the pleasure of meeting GBs wife and his eldest son. They are a lovely family. GB and I have remained in touch. I hope to have opportunities to do more treks in Nepal and to do them with GB and his team. I would highly recommend GB to anyone who is planning a trek in Nepal.
