Our Three Passes Trek Blog helps you to manage and plan your adventure and challenging trek to Everest. This trek gives a great opportunity to visit most of the beautiful places and high passes of the Everest Region. Three High Passes Trek Route is one of the adventure trekking trails so you need to have physical fitness. As well as, you have to cross Three High Passes – Renjo La Pass (5,340m) Cho La Pass (5,420m), and Kongma La Pass (5,535m).

You will have another great chance to visit Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Hike Kalapathar Peak (5,545m) for the eye-catching view of Mt Everest and several Mountain peaks. We try to give more information about Everest Trek. Mainly, we focus on giving great information about this Everest Three Pass Trek through our Three Passes Trek Blog.

The three-pass trek starts from Lukla. After 25 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla then continue our trek to check to pass through many beautiful Sherpa villages. Like phakding, namche bazaar as well as tengboche and dingboche. Next early in the morning after checking in, we hike to Chhukung Ri (5,535m) which is the best place to see beautiful mountain views and glaciers. A hike to ChhukungRri is good for your acclimatization to your three high passes trek.

Kongma La Pass (5,535m)

As well the Kongma La Pass (5,535m) is also one of the highest passes in this Three Passes Trek. It will be a little bit hard for you due to its high altitude. After early morning breakfast at Chhukung, We start our hiking to Khongmala Pass; about 3.5 to 4 hours of nice walking uphill then we will reach Kongma La Top. We can enjoy the beautiful views of Mt Everest (8,848m), Mt Lhotse (8,516m), and Mt Makalu (8,463m). Likewise many other beautiful mountains, glaciers, Lakes, etc.

After a few minutes of rest, we will continue our journey descending to Lobuche and walking through the glacier. We will join the Labuche, which is the main trekking trail to Everest Base Camp. The Next morning, we will continue our journey to Everest base camp crossing through glaciers including a beautiful view of Everest Himalayan panorama, Everest glacier, Khumbu icefall, etc then we will reach Gorakshep.

It is the last place to stay in the Everest base camp. In the afternoon, we will hike to Everest base camp. Next early in the morning, we will hike to Kala Patthar peak (5,545m). Kalapather is the best place to see the view of Mt. Everest just in front of you. After the hike to Kalapathar, we will continue to descend to Labuche. Then we have to follow a different way to Dzongla.

Chola Pass (5,420m)

Especially, the Chola Pass (5,420m) is the second-highest pass in this Everest Three Passes Trek. Next early in the morning, we will have breakfast at Dzongla. We start hiking toward our second destination Chola Pass. It will be a little bit hard for you to climb all the way uphill to the top.

You have to walk through the rocky way and the snow before the Chola Pass Top. You can rest for a few minutes and enjoy taking a picture from Chola Pass. After that, we will start to descend very steeply away down to Thangnak. If you feel good then we can directly go to Gokyo Lake. If you feel tired and don’t have enough time, it is better to stay at Thangnak.

Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri (5,360m)

Finally, Gokyo is a very popular tourist destination in the Everest region. Gokyo Lake is a very beautiful main tourist attraction. Next morning, we will hike to Gokyo Ri (5,360m). It takes about three hours to reach the top. Gokyo Ri is one of the beautiful viewpoints to see Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Makalu (8,463m), and Everest Himalayan panorama as well as Lakes, glaciers, etc. After enjoying the view we descend to Gokyo Lake and then rest a day there.

Renjo La Pass (5,360m)

Three Passes Trek Blog, Renjo La PassThe Renjo La Pass (5,360m) is the lowest of these three passes treks. Next early in the morning after having a delicious breakfast, we start to hike Renjo La Pass uphill. It is the best day for exploring the beautiful scenery of mountains, glaciers, and Gokyo Lake. After 3-4 hours of a nice walk, we will reach Renjo La Top which is the third and last pass in this trek.

During the short rest, we will take a picture and enjoy the breathtaking mountain views including Everest and Makalu. It will be your great victory in completing your Adventure Three Passes Trek. Then we will descend to Lunde. We will stay a night at Lunde. After that, we will continue our trek back to Thame village, Namche Bazaar, and end our trek at Lukla.
